DHEA Does Not Benefit Healthy Older Men
German researchers have suggested that supplementing with 50 mg/day of DHEA for four months had no effect on sex drive, exercise capacity, cholesterol levels or bone mass in a group of 22 healthy men between the ages of 50 to 69 years. The supplementation did increase DHEA levels to those generally found in young men, but apparently with no obvious benefits, according to the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism (Vol. 86, October 2001, pp. 4686-92).
