
Japanese Woman Have Highest Survival Rates
Japanese men and women are living longer than ever, with women the longest-lived in the world for the 16th straight year. Japanese women are able to live to nearly 85 years old. Men can expect to live 77.64 years in 2000 while life expectancy for women last year was 84.62 years.
As mentioned in Japanese Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry (July 13, 2001), the previous records for life expectancy was 77.19 years for men in 1997 and 84.01 for women in 1998. Japanese have for several years been the longest-living people on earth, but other countries, including Iceland, are catching up.
