Alternative Treatments for cancer
In California, researchers have shown that up to 80% of cancer patients are taking alternative therapies (often without telling their doctors). Many mainstream oncologists and cancer centers are now integrating alternative non-toxic natural therapies together with alternative treatment. The reason is simple: alternative therapies work!
Alternative therapies have been gaining popularity in the US. It is estimated that more than 40% of adult Americans use acupuncture, biofeedback, vitamin therapy, herbal medicine, and hypnosis as complementary or alternative therapies to the conventional methods. Researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle now report that 73 percent of all children diagnosed with cancer in the State of Washington use some form of alternative treatment. This is usually among those whose parents are dissatisfied with the conventional care that their children are receiving. In these instances, alternative therapies are more often used in adjunct, rather than instead of, the conventional treatments. The most common alternative treatment therapy is the implementation of an herbal and vitamin, especially vitamin C, supplement plan. Source: Preventive Medicine, Vol. 33, November 2001, pp. 347-54.
